BI-METAL THERMOSTATS
Derwent Thermostats are made in Australia. They are low quantity surface mount bi-metal thermostats at fixed temperatures. Available in 3 body styles with many options, they will suit almost any application.
T1 / T2 SERIES
Single Pole/Change over contacts, with a fixed temperature bi-metal. Available in any temperature between 32-150°C, and has a differential of 8°C. Rated 25A/240V and 3A/24VDC(max).
When ordering these it is nesecary to denote how many terminals, and the switching direction. For example, if you wanted the switch to turn off at 60°C, you would specify “60°C CUTOUT”. However if you wanted to turn something on at a set temperature, you would specify something like “40°C FAN SWITCH”. This is easier and more accurate than saying normally closed 60°C.
A full part number and description when ordering would look like this:
| Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
| T2A-2T | Closed Face, QC, 70°C, CUTOUT |
| T1B-2T | Open Face, SC, 20°C, FAN SWITCH |
“T2” denotes a T2 body style, “A” means auto reset (whereas “B” means manual reset), and “2T” means there are only 2 terminals on the switch. The T2A-2T has a closed face ( or in other words you cannot see the bi-metal), has QC (quick connect) terminals, is a cut out (the contacts inside the switch break-on-rise (like a safety device would)) and is preset at 70°C.
“T1” denotes a T1 body style, “B” means manual reset, and “ 2T” means there are only 2 terminals on the switch. The T1B-2T has a open face (or in other words the bi-metal is exposed - useful when sensing air temperature instead of surface temperature). It has SC (screw connect) terminals, and is a fan switch (the contacts inside the switch make-on-rise), preset at 20°C.
T5 SERIES
Single Pole contacts, with a fixed temperature bi-metal. Available in any temperature between n -3 to +150°C, and has a differential of between 8 & 10°C. Rated 10A/240V and 3A/24VDC(max).
When ordering these, the information is much the same as the T1 or T2 series. However there are only 2 terminals and the body styles are slighlty different.
A full part number and description when ordering would look like this:
| Part Number | Description |
|---|---|
| T506 | Closed Face, 70°C, CUTOUT |
| T508 | Open Face, 20°C, FAN SWITCH |
The part number T506 denotes a T506 body style. Closed Face means the bi-metal is not visible. The “cut out” denotes the contacts inside the switch break-on-rise (like a safety device would), and is preset to 70°C.
The part number T508 denotes a T508 body style. Open Face means that the bi-metal is visible. The “fan switch” denotes the contacts inside the switch make-on-rise (such as turning a fan on at a set temperature), and is preset to 20°C.
